SAFETY FIRST!

In all lines of business, especially the maritime and logistics management arm of business, safety is of utmost importance and at TGL we ensure this is incorporated in our business operations to our clients.

We applaud the strides of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) towards ensuring the enforcement of safety standards and protection of lives and property within and outside the port environment through a renewed and improved collaboration with government agencies especially the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).

In a recent meeting with the Heads of Maritime Agencies, the NPA Chief Executive stated that the partnership with the FRSC is aimed at ensuring professionalism in the area of safety standards by ensuring that truck drivers carrying containers without latching them to their trucks would no longer be allowed to ply Nigerian roads.

Lately, there have been road accidents associated with containers falling off trucks thus resulting in the loss of lives. The Managing Director NPA; Hadiza Bala Usman, has shown displeasure with the act of truck drivers deliberately unlatching containers when they leave the Port premises in a bid to save their vehicles in case of accidents. The NPA is working with the FRSC to develop a task force that would supervise and inspect truck drivers that loosen their latches when they leave the Port environment.

At TGL our safety procedures are in line with international best practices. The safety of your goods, as well as the safety of lives and property, is of utmost importance to us.
