Requirements for Exportation out of Nigeria: What You Need to Know
As a business involved in exportation, I believe you must have come across the Form NXP, but if you haven’t then you are the right place to learn about it.
What is the Form NXP?
The Form NXP (Nigerian Export Proceeds) is a mandatory form to be filled by Nigerian exporters. Some of the objectives of the Form NXP are:
- To ensure that the goods to be exported meet the buyer’s expectation.
- To ensure that that only goods that have satisfied the buyer’s order have been shipped – the Nigeria Customs Service on shipment will duly certify a copy of the form.
The Form NXP was initially filled manually until the 31st October 2019, when the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) introduced the automated process (e-Form NXP). The electronic process requires that the exporter obtain a valid Tax Identification Number (TIN) from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), amongst others. The TIN is a prerequisite for the exporter to access the Trade System for e-form NXP application.
The exportation process highlighted above might seem quite cumbersome, but we have great news for you as always. TGL specializes in ensuring that your export process is smooth and hitch-free.
