Free Trade Zones (FTZs) are delimited and enclosed areas of a national customs territory where foreign manufacturing firms, mainly producing for export, benefit from a certain number of fiscal and financial incentives.

A free trade zone is centered around global exchange, particularly value-added logistics activities involving light manufacturing and handling.

Logistics in Free Trade Zone

Logistics-oriented FTZs or logistic parks are basically a cluster of related organizations that offer different services, including CFS (Container Freight Stuffing), storage, consolidation and distribution, and value-added services.  The table below highlights the functionalities of the services offered in the FTZs:

CFS (Container Freight Station)  This is a warehouse where cargo belonging to different exporters and importers is unstuffed and stuffed from the containers before being exported or imported
Consolidating and distributingThe area where freight is consolidated and put away to be dispersed to territorial stockpiling warehouse or different business sectors.
Value added ServicesAdditional exercises like processing, labeling, assembling and so forth before freight is moved to inland regions or delivered for different nations. This is a mix of coordination and mechanical exercises.
StorageA spot to store freight before the load conveys to a last representative.
