World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims 2024

Today, on the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, we honor the 1.19 million lives lost every year on the world’s roads. According to the UN Secretary-General’s message, while progress has been made in reducing road traffic fatalities, there is still much work to be done to achieve our goal of reducing road traffic deaths by half by 2030 according to the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 .

However, in Nigeria, the statistics are alarming. The FRSC reported that 3,767 people lost their lives in 7,011 road crashes between January and September 2024. Each death represents a tragedy that could have been avoided, then, leaving us with a stark reminder of the realities we face as a people.

That is why at Taxaide Global Logistics (TGL), we take our responsibility to Road Safety seriously. That’s why we’ve established the TGL Drivers Academy to sensitize, train, and enable drivers in Nigeria. Our commitment is to collaborate with governments, NGOs, and industry partners to achieve a vision of zero road deaths and serious injuries.

We believe that investing in road safety is crucial to creating a world where all road users can travel safely. Our tools support comprehensive safety assessments that prioritize the needs of all road users, including pedestrians and bicyclists. This helps promote active mobility, low-carbon transportation, and climate resilience for both people and the planet.

We are proud to support our partners locally and internationally in implementing the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 and advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Mobility.

So, together, let us build a future where every journey ends safely!
